2020 Budget Meeting

The Board of Directors has put forth a budget for the 2020 fiscal year.  The budget is ready for the community to review at our annual budget meeting.   In case you’re wondering what it takes to put the budget together, check out this post from last year.
This year’s budget meeting is set for Thursday, December 5th at 6:30pm in the Monroe Public Library’s Meeting Room.

You should have already received official communication of this meeting in the mail, along with a copy of the 2020 budget, a proxy form and some additional community information.

For security and privacy purposes, we won’t disclose the specific details about the budget on a public blog post, so refer to the documentation that was sent out. If you need an additional copy, please reach out to the Board of Directors.

What’s in our 2020 Budget

As with most years, landscaping makes up more than half of the community’s expenses. Completed in 2019 was a reserve study – a 3rd party audit that reviews the physical space and items that are owned, managed and need to be maintained by the Association. Based on this study, we need to increase our contribution to our reserves account.

Overall, our operating expenses are fairly consistent with 2019 – our landscaping costs are the same as last year, along with our taxes, insurance costs, management expenses, etc. What’s new this year is a larger contribution to our reserves account – this new contribution accounts for the increase to our annual dues.

More information about the reserve study is available here.

Board Elections

During the budget meeting, we’ll also be holding an election for our open board position. We need participation from the neighborhood in order to hold an election, so please join in or submit a proxy form (see below.) This community runs on volunteers; if you’re interested in being a part of the Board of Directors, please let the current Board know between now and the beginning of the budget meeting.

Can’t make the meeting?

If you’re unable to attend the meeting, you can have someone else vote on your behalf by submitting a proxy vote form.  This allows another community member to cast a vote on your behalf.  You can mail, email or fax the form into the Property Manager or the Board of Directors by following the contact information on the form.  This form must be in at least a day prior to the meeting.  Alternatively, your proxy can bring the signed form to the meeting.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the budget meeting.
